I buy the way I do to complete a project, for the most part... allowing for the flexibility to acquire things that come up randomly throughout the year.

I tried to write up my thinking here, but I'm not sure I wrote with enough clarity https://jmtd.net/log/vinyl_killing_vinyl/
basically I got uncomfortable with new pressings making the hobby I enjoyed harder/more expensive, coupled with quality concerns on new pressings, general capitalist extraction bullshit and a mild concern about the environmental cost of new productions

It's very cool that you have a project in mind when you pick stuff up.

*looks at the date for post created*

So what you're saying is that this isn't a new trend for you....

Yeah, my quest is replacing my CDs with vinyl versions (usually original pressing, unless a particular remastered one has really good reviews)... and to help prioritize that quest is focusing on the stuff used in my mixtapes (as I remaster all of them to make them sound as good as I can).

I grabbed a few Smashing Pumpkins releases today: 2011 pressings of Gish and Siamese Dream, and the 2012 European pressing of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

    I also got My Bloody Valentine's M B V album (2021 pressing).

I have the US 2011 of Siamese Dream and the 2012 US version boxed set for Mellon Collie... great packaging.

So for those who played Quake 2 back in the day and want to add to their collection. (It'll fit right next to your Quake 1 vinyl)

I moved yesterday to an apartment building without an elevator and BOY...LET ME TELL YA... moving 800+ records like that was probably the least fun thing I've ever done in my life.

    FOR THE HOBBY.

If I ever move again, the books and records will be.... why I hire others to move for me (aside from the whole disability thing )

Damn another year, another wildly underwhelming list.

I'd wait in line for Team Sleep if it wasn't listed as "RSD First" which means it'll readily be available later in the year (probably cheaper too).

Looking for the Open Edition of the Disco Elysium soundtrack LP - if anyone has any leads or has an extra copy please let me know - willing to pay over retail price but people are listing them for 200$ and I have my limits LOL

Kind of interested in the Spawn release but it depends on the cover art.

morbidly interested in the Tinted Windows release if only because it's a weird footnote in time.

One of the albums is going to have a normal release earlier that week and the "special" RSD version looks like barf on a platter so I think I'll stick with the normal one.

Mildly interested in Spawn too. I have the original 3xLP 10" fan-club pressing of that, but it is kind of a bitch to have to flip it after every other song, and the artwork for it is nowhere near as cool as the original CD packaging. I might bite if its got the original album cover and comes with a reprint of that cool poster that came with the CD.

And yeah that Pearl Jam exclusive looks... unappealing, at the least.

I feel like I can't trust that news really, haha. I've been wanting this on vinyl for years so I might not take any chances lol

I picked up that HORSE the Band last year and that was an RSD First and has yet to see another pressing. Granted, I know that's on a smaller label compared to Warner with Team Sleep ... but I would hate to potentially miss out on this one.

I notice the Peter Murphy Live RSD release includes a NIN cover, and according to this it's Hurt.
