So I just won't buy from UK sellers anymore, even if they're the only ones selling whatever I'm looking for. I'd rather wait.

That's only speaking for me though. It's not like I hate the English just because they're not taking care of their vinyl as well as some others do.
I have had a similar experience to yours but with sellers from the USA. It's doesn't make me decide not to buy from the US again though because that's just daft. I get your frustration but your conclusion not to buy from the UK again seems a little rash.

Also, remember the UK is more than just England.

I don't think I've ever bought an LP from a seller based in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, to be honest. I'll have to try and see if their shipping is any better.

It's perfectly fine if you think my decision not to buy from sellers in England or the UK is rash; I can see where one would. But I've also had enough bad experiences from sellers there that I don't want to risk the time, hassle or the money doing so when I know I can buy from other territories with better track records.

Went and saw Autolux/The Kills last night and picked up this limited edition 7" that only has 1000 copies pressed.

The Kills were AMAZING, Autolux was not (sadly)

judas priest - sin after sin
my favorite JP album, hands down.
picked this up from my local record store the other day for only $8.99. the cover's not in great shape but the record is probably VG+

    sleater-kinney - the hot rock
not a new acquisition, but i pulled it out to listen to yesterday. S-K were the first band whose albums i became obsessed with owning on vinyl back in high school. this one was always my favorite, and it still is. definitely one of my favorite all-time albums, too. holds up perfectly.

got all six of the new Cure reissues. 180g black vinyl.
they're the same masters as the 2005-ish versions, so they might not sound the best...but at least i have them all? guess we'll see when i spin them.

also just got the Halloween score on 45rpm 2xLP black 180g
getting closer to completing my john carpenter collection. really wish they would reissue Big Trouble In Little China.

currently spinning the 2016 repress of Three Imaginary Boys by The Cure
sounds a lot better than i was expecting given that it's the 2005-ish remaster audio
the record itself, though, is probably the most statically charged record i've ever seen, and the side A label wasn't baked on correctly so it's all puffy and warped : /

also, i wanted to talk to @NYRexall on instagram about it but he seems to have deleted his account

The reason you're hearing surface noise, non-fill and receiving labels that look like shit is because the pressing plants are cutting corners in the name of mass production and not devoting the time necessary to cut a good lacquer that a properly-pressed vinyl LP needs to be...a properly pressed vinyl LP.

I'm going to keep trying to shake sense into you until I can get you to just go for original pressings every time you possibly can, bro. It's the only surefire way to get a proper LP anymore. They're using 10+ year old remasters for these new pressings, ffs. I swear I bought an original TIB pressing about three years ago and it sounds wonderful, like all their 80s albums do in original form. I can't recommend the practice of buying originals enough..
oh, i know. but i had already pre-ordered these before we had any of those discussions and i'm still glad to own them. but i have definitely changed my tune on just always buying the newest pressing of something. there are still plenty of well-pressed records these days, but there's also a lot of shit out there, and i'm being more careful, now.

speaking of which, i picked up an OP of "construction time again" at my local shop yesterday (along with 7"s of "party all the time" by eddie murphy and "edge of seventeen" by stevie nicks...mostly to make my wife laugh, which worked, and she suggested we frame them and hang them next to each other).

Sorry, man; I just got bored with the whole process. Nobody gives a fuck what some dude is listening to on vinyl any given night, just like I realized I don't give a fuck who gives a fuck or not. I reached out and am staying in touch with the select few on IG I met and routinely interacted with, and I knew I could have way better conversations with you regarding vinyl, music, graveyard sex and everything else here at the ETS homestead.

I'll kinda miss seeing your cat pictures though. They would often make my hours of the days
haha no worries, i understand. though i do miss seeing what you were listening to.

and if you ever want to see my cat pictures, my instagram profile is public

I found this band called Motel Pools (masterminded by Chiara Angelicola from Bird Call) when their debut, a self-titled EP, was featured on Tidal Discovery last year. Turns out it was the first volume of an LP, which just arrived on my turntable! I got stuck with 'carriage fees' C.O.D. for almost as much as what the album itself cost — fuck you, UPS! — but it was worth the money, as the record sounds fantastic. Really glad to have it in physical form, I've been enjoying this stuff over and over.

some recent acquisitions, mostly played today

depeche mode - construction time again
pretty sure i'm the only person who would say this is their favorite DM album (which i've talked about in the DM thread), but i don't care. i love every song on it, and it's literally the only album by depeche mode that doesn't have a single song i want to skip (violator maybe being the other exception).

david bowie - blackstar 180g black
glad i found a first pressing of this, because it sounds phenomenal. wasn't even super expensive! $33 w/shipping, i think.

    aphex twin - cheetah EP
wasn't expecting much from this and was very pleasantly surprised. really enjoyed it.

dillinger escape plan - limerent death 7" single (both black & white variants)

new arrivals / acquisitions, played today (or yesterday, in the case of this first one)

    survive - rr7349
    just absolutely phenomenal

mouth of the architect - path of eight
blood red/grey merge, limited to 300 copies

porcupine tree - fear of a blank planet
    2xLP on 180g blue
first vinyl version of the album that doesn't incorporate the "nil recurring" EP into the track sequence, so i bought that separately, which was a bummer. this sound beautiful, though.

stevie nicks - edge of seventeen 7" single

eddie murphy - party all the time 7" single

Picked up a 1st American pressing of R.E.M.'s 'Reckoning' today on translucent purple.
Neat as it just looks black until you hold it up to the light.

you know, i never got into that album for some reason. i bought it on CD from Evil Clown (a record/CD store that used to be one of my go-to spots in chicago back in high school) and ended up re-selling it because i just didn't like it that much. i'd probably enjoy it more these days, though.

    recent arrival / currently playing:
